Domaine des Marrans is a family domaine situated in Fleurie in
the heart of the Beaujolais crus villages. Jean-Jacques Melinand
took over the estate from his father in 1970 and ran it with his
wife, Liliane. In 2008, their son, Mathieu, joined the domain after
studying oenology and working in the antipodes. Mathieu has been
taking increasing responsibility for the wine making and for the
2009 vintage took sole responsibility. When asked if he had any
problems with the vintage, Mathieu replied, that he was really lucky
because grapes were perfect and that it was impossible to make a bad
wine.
The vineyard is spread over 19 hectares and 6 appellations.
The harvest is manual and wine making traditional.
